Our Programmes

Kindercentre Admissions

Webber Academy’s Kindecentre programmes offer our youngest students a gentle introduction to schooling, fostering curiosity and appreciation for learning.

Due to the advanced nature of our programme, we require proficiency in spoken English for all of our Kindercentre applicants. Please note that we do not offer ESL, ELL, or EAL support.

  • Our Junior Kindergarten (JK) classes run Monday to Friday, 8:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. throughout the regular school year. The JK programme is for children turning four years old by December 31st, 2025. Children participate in play-based learning activities that develop early literacy and numeracy skills and help foster social development. In addition, our JK students benefit from separate classes in Music, Physical Education, and Spanish.

No formal testing is required for our youngest applicants; however, families who have submitted completed applications will be invited to participate in:

    • An interview and observation with the Director of Admissions

    • A play workshop to assess your child’s readiness for our programme

When making placement decisions, factors such as behaviour, language development, willingness to participate in activities, and social interaction are considered.

Admissions for the 2025-2026 school year will begin in November 2024. Applications are now available; we recommend completing an application as soon as possible, as spaces are limited.

  • Our Senior Kindergarten (SK) programme builds on the early literacy and numeracy skills introduced in Junior Kindergarten. SK students develop independence in problem-solving in preparation for our Grade 1 programme. The SK programme is designed for children turning five years old by December 31st, 2025.

Applicants to Senior Kindergarten will be invited to complete an assessment session with the admissions team, focusing on pre-literacy and numeracy skills. Much like admissions to Junior Kindergarten, SK applicants should be able to demonstrate appropriate behaviour, language development, and willingness to participate in activities during their assessment.

Admissions for the 2025-2026 school year will begin in January of 2025. Applications are now available; we recommend completing an application as soon as possible, as spaces are limited.

Elementary & Senior School Admissions

Admissions at Webber Academy is an individualized experience designed to attract keen and bright students to our programmes. Our process helps prospective students and their families learn more about the Webber Academy community while allowing our admissions team to learn more about the applicant.

When considering a student’s application, the objective is to determine whether or not the individual possesses the academic potential and personal motivation to meet these expectations. In determining a candidate’s admissibility, the Director of Admissions will consider a student’s academic record, aptitude, social readiness, citizenship qualities, and extracurricular interests. An application, current report card, and admissions assessment are required before making a decision. Our admissions team may request a personal interview, classroom visit, and permission to contact a candidate’s current school to help us attain a complete assessment.

Due to the advanced nature of our programme, we require all applicants to demonstrate proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking.) We do not offer ESL, ELL, or EAL support.

  • Applicants to Grades 1 through 5 with strong report cards will be invited to complete a class visit and admissions assessment with our admissions team. Applicants will complete a grade-appropriate in-house assessment pack focusing on skills and abilities in literacy and numeracy.

Admissions assessments to Grades 1 through 5 typically occur in March through June; please ensure your application checklist is updated with current report cards for this school year in preparation.

  • Grades 6 to 12

The Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) is required for all students applying to Grades 6 through 12. Applicants can complete the SSAT in one of the following ways:

    • Register for one of the Standard or Flex Dates at an SSAT Testing Centre

      • There are many dates available across Calgary from October 2024 to March 2025. Webber Academy is hosting an SSAT date on March 1st, 2025; registration is available through the SSAT website.

    • Book an in-person test at a Prometric Testing Centre

We recommend completing your SSAT testing by March 1st, 2025, to ensure that results are available by mid-March. When signing up for the SSAT, please at Webber Academy as a recipient of your scores.

Please note that we do not accept alternatives to the SSAT during our admissions process.

Applicants who have strong grades on their report cards and the SSAT will be invited to attend a class visit with one of our current classes. Please note that applicants to our high school programme will also need to complete an admissions interview with the Director of Admissions as part of their application process. This will be scheduled during the class visit.

Admissions visits for Grades 6 through 12 usually take place in January through June; please ensure your application checklist is updated with current report cards for this school year in preparation.
