Grade 7 Girls Volleyball
Grade 7 Girls’ Volleyball team had a very successful season, marked with tremendous growth of each individual and the team. The wonderful team spirit was evident in practices and every game. All the athletes worked hard and progressed with their skills throughout the season. The team took silver at the Webber Academy tournament, but by far their greatest and well deserved achievement was the gold medal and the league banner won at the main ISAA tournament. Congratulations to this fantastic team! The coaches would like to express their sincere appreciation to our excellent student coaches Sofía Gallart and Ashleigh Wilkins.

Grade 7/8 Boys Volleyball
The Grade 7/8 Boys Volleyball team had a very successful season this year, showing lots of growth and development over the course of the season. They started off up and down in league play, but finished the season strong. They placed 2nd in the Holy Cross tournament in Strathmore towards the end of the season. The players finished up their season by playing their best volleyball of the year during playoffs, winning many exciting matches and ultimately winning the league banner! Congratulations to everyone on an amazing season!

Grade 8 Girls Volleyball
The Grade 8 Girls Volleyball team showed growth and determination over the course of their season. Impressively, the team achieved a first place finish in the Ambrose Volleyball Tournament which took place September 23 and 24, 2023. The team learned a 4-2 rotation where they specialized play as setters, hitters, and passers, and developed great positional skills. As a strong team in the Tier 2 league, the team accepted a challenge by moving to a Tier 1 league during playoffs where they came up against some tough competition. The final games were close and the girls can be proud of their overall progress. Much gratitude goes out to our Grade 10 volunteer coaches, Spencer Milne, Alexis Mihalache and Alex Blaufuss for their outstanding support and dedication to Wildcats volleyball.

Grade 8/9 Boys Volleyball
The Grade 8/9 Boys team had a tremendous season in 2023. In tournament play they placed fourth at Bearspaw Christian School, third at the 16-team tournament at Ambrose University, and claimed gold in Strathmore. They followed up their tournament success with equal success in league play entering the playoffs in second place, beating all teams in their league but one. The team played incredibly well in the playoffs before knocking off the top team in the league to capture Webber Academy’s first Tier 1 Grade 8/9 boys championship, a notable achievement. The players worked as a cohesive unit and displayed resiliency never getting overwhelmed when they fell behind during games. Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic season.

Grade 9 Girls Volleyball
The Grade 9 Girls Volleyball team demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, determination, and teamwork throughout their season. The team played a very competitive season, advancing to the quarter finals. They showed improvement in all skills and positioning, especially in serving and communication. They achieved gold in two tournaments, the Strathmore Holy Cross Collegiate tournament on Oct.13 - 14 and the Bearspaw tournament on Sept. 22 - 23. Special thank you to student coaches Claire Li and Srihari Krishnan for all their work.

Jr. Varsity Boys Volleyball
The Junior Varsity boys had a successful season. They were able to hold their own against stiff competition, suffering some tight losses. The tournament in Olds was a particular highlight, as the Wildcats played some really high level ball. Other bright spots were beating Calgary Christian School in 3 sets, as well as taking a set off a very talented Masters Academy team. The boys improved tremendously throughout the year and have a promising future.

Jr. Varsity Girls Volleyball
Congratulations to the JV Girls volleyball team for their exciting season. The team finished second in the Dig Pink tournament and second in the CISAA league championships. The team showed a tremendous amount of growth in skill development and always displayed first class sportsmanship.

Sr. Varsity Boys Volleyball
The Senior Varsity Boys Volleyball team was one of the strongest boys volleyball teams in recent history. The team had a lot of success in league and tournament play. The team won the West Island College Invitational Tournament and tied for second place in the CISAA Tier 1 league. In the playoff tournament, the team was defeated in the semi-final round. The team will be remembered for their hard work, camaraderie, and athleticism.

Sr. Varsity Girls Volleyball
After losing nine seniors it was a building year for the Senior Varsity Girls team. Competing in the highly competitive Tier 1 division allowed for tremendous growth and the girls were viewed by all teams as the most improved team in the league. Season highlights include advancing to the playoff round in the Bearspaw, Dig Pink and Drillers tournaments.
